Crank it up to 10 and give it your all

Probably one of the worst things any Erg user can do for a host of reasons. Sore backs and necks being up there. Whenever I find am Erg in a gym anywhere in the world the usual damper setting is 10 or there a-bouts. Now depending on how well maintained the machines are this could be the correct setting but for most its most likely not. Depending on your size and gender there are preferred settings to maximize your time in a safe and efficient manner. Each PM(Performance Monitor) the ‘clock’ can sense the effective resistance within the machine. Using the drag factor settings built into the software you can mirror the same feel or resistance pretty closely on any machine anywhere. There are a few other things that can come into play like slide/roller cleanliness and bungee condition. Once you know and understand your individual ‘Drag Factor’ it makes for a much more enjoyable experience.

It’ll get you so far but the plateau isn’t far away.

There’s a Grey area where most endurance athletes tend to lie, where every session feels ‘Hard’. Knowing and working your zones is vital to maximize your time investment in training. Finding these zones and understanding how much of said time to invest in is a key skill to learn. Fortunately some of our early sessions identified these zones for each rower and we guide you through those key first few sessions to find your rhythm.
